Maggie & Jerauld – New Year’s Eve Wedding – Rocky Mount, NC Photographer

The last two New Year’s Eves Will and I have spent at weddings. Some folks may think that it’s a bummer to spend such a fun holiday working. Not us. Seriously, both weddings have been a blast. We’re sure you remember Julianna and Michael’s epic countdown that ended with confetti cannons as the clock struck midnight. Well, Maggie and Jerauld had just as amazing of a night with a reception at the Rocky Mount Shrine Club, following their gorgeous ceremony. We loved Maggie’s outfit change into her sparkling evening gown. Getting to know their families had us smiling all day and I must say I had one of my most fun nights ever running the photo booth. I’m sure you all remember how stunning Maggie was for her bridal portraits, well she certainly did not disappoint on the wedding day either. Jerauld gets my vote as the most organized groom ever. Seriously, their wedding day went as smoothly as possible and we were so honored to spend the day with Maggie and Jerauld!

I’ve also got to share a quick story. One thing that made the day extra special in hindsight was a little fun fact that Will’s parents shared with us after we told them about Maggie and Jerauld’s wedding day. Back on December 6th, Will’s sweet grandmother, Ma-Lone, passed away at the age of 94. We’ve spent many moments since then reminiscing and learning more and more about her life. Little did we know while we shot Maggie and Jerauld’s ceremony at the Rocky Mount Church of the Good Shephard that we were in the very same church that Ma-Lone was married in. I knew Ma-Lone had ties to Rocky Mount and was a devout member of the Episcopal Church, but it never crossed my mind that she may have ever been a member of that particular church. I know I’ll always smile when I see Maggie and Jerauld’s photos… I’ll remember how fun our day with them was, but I’ll also have visions of Ma-Lone walking down that very same aisle many years ago on her special day.
